By all outward appearances, Claire has a life everyone dreams of- the perfect New York City apartment, a glamorous career, and a loving fiance. But beneath her elegant exterior hides a mysterious past and emotional baggage no one dares discover. Her live-in, drug addicted sister, Jaime, has long overstayed her welcome and is a constant source of controversy between Claire and her husband-to-be David. Though not completely self centered, Jaime can't help but turn people against her. Jaime's seemingly carefree lifestyle comes to an abrupt end when she's finally kicked out. With nowhere to go and few options, Jaime must get creative and sink or swim. The stress of her fast approaching wedding and the guilt of her callousness toward her sister sends Claire into a mental breakdown. Why is she so unhappy? Why can't she fully connect with David? Temptation lurks and won't go away when Claire develops a flirtatious relationship with a running buddy, Robbie. While Claire continues to slide and spiral, Jaime finds the courage to get some help. At a Narcotics Anonymous group she meets Diego, a fellow addict. He shows Jaime how to not be so hard on herself but at the same time take responsibility for her actions. Secrets come out and haunted pasts are revealed in a culmination that sends Claire further down to a bottom she never knew existed.
